Description
One of the two Medieval knights that led the funeral cortege of King Richard The Third on the 22nd of March, 2015 on his return to Leicester with dignity and honour.
King Richard was the last monarch to die in battle on the 22nd of March 1485 at the Battle Of Bosworth Field in the county of Leicestershire. The King who was 32 when he died was stripped of his armour and thrown naked over a horse and was taken into Leicester and paraded around the streets. He was then taken to Greyfriars church when he was given a hasty burial. There he laid undiscovered until 2012. The church had been long demolished and various buildings erected in the years after. The last being a school which was later used as council offices and a car park. His bones were unearthed by Philipa Langley of the Richard The Third society after years of research and painstaking persuasions to get funds and archaeology experts on board to find the lost King. His bones are now reinterred at Leicester Cathedral.
